Technical Sales Representative

Tech-Wood is expanding, and we want YOU to join our dynamic team! We're currently hiring for the role of Technical Sales Representative. If you're ready for a fulfilling career in a hardworking, collaborative, and fun environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Established in 1998, Tech-Wood has been a trusted provider of Engineered Wood Products and Roof Trusses to home builders in Calgary and the surrounding areas. Now, we're taking innovation to the next level with our new manufacturing facility in SE Calgary. This new facility will be equipped with fully automated production tables that will produce interior and exterior prefab wall panels.

Your Role: TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE

As a Technical Sales Representative at Tech-Wood, you'll play a crucial role in managing assigned customer accounts while actively seeking new opportunities within the Calgary CMA, for both single-family and multi-family projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between Tech-Wood and customers

  • Achieve sales targets that are provided at the beginning of the fiscal year

  • Customer account creation and ensuring customer information is up-to-date

  • Credit application requests

  • Collaboration with customers and design team to determine design efficiencies

  • Quoting and pricing customer jobs

  • Managing your customers A/R with a target of receiving payment within 45 days

  • Communicate with shipping and production to ensure our customer timelines are met

  • Administrative duties;

    • creating credits and site extras

    • writing comprehensive emails

    • pursing outstanding accounts receivable

    • participating in weekly meetings

  • Regular site visits to meet with site supervisors and framers

  • Representing Tech-Wood at industry functions outside of regular business hours

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years experience in selling building materials would be preferred.

  • Construction knowledge, with an understanding of the building process, as well as reading house plans, would be beneficial.

  • Strong customer service skills is mandatory.

  • Must be proficient with computers (Word, Excel, Outlook) and have the ability to learn our internal software program.

  • Knowledge of Engineered Wood Products and roof trusses would be a definite asset, but we are willing to train the right person.

Design Technician

What You Bring:

  • Read, interpret and understand blueprints and the building codes relating to residential, commercial or farm projects.

  • Ability to examine drawings and blueprints for intent, conformity, and error.

  • Design roof and floor takeoffs, layouts, load development and truss designs using MiTek Sapphire, Wood Works, or similar component sizing software and CAD software programs.

  • Generate quotes quickly, efficiently, and accurately for customers.

  • The skill to deal with various customers courteously and effectively, having an exceptional customer service attitude to maintain excellent client interaction.

  • Communication with engineers, architects, and contractors regarding project details before and during construction.

  • Team player.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma.

  • 2+ years of work experience in the wood truss and engineered wood products industry.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering wood trusses, wood I-joists and structural composite lumber products.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the building and construction process related to single-family, multi-family and light commercial wood-framed construction.

  • Understanding of local building codes and construction practices.

Wall-Panel Assembler

Tech-Wood is growing, and we need YOU!

Tech-Wood is seeking a Wall Panel Assembler. If you are looking to work with a hardworking, collaborative, fun, and dedicated team, we would like to hear from you.

Tech-Wood has provided Engineered Wood Products and Roof Trusses to Calgary and area home builders since 1998. We take pride in delivering quality products and offering our customers exceptional service to exceed their expectations. Our expanded product offering to our builder customers, will be interior and exterior prefab wall panels, produced along fully automated production tables, in a newly acquired manufacturing plant in SE Calgary.

Your Role: Wall Panel Assembler

  • Assemble wall panels following the provided specifications and blueprints.

  • Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and fasten materials precisely.

  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of the assembly process to meet industry standards.

  • Conduct thorough quality checks on completed panels, making necessary adjustments as required.

  • Maintain a neat and organized workspace to facilitate efficient assembly operations.

  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulations throughout the assembly process.

  • Framing experience is an asset, but not an absolute requirement.
